Representative Payee Services, for a small fee determined by SSA, will manage benefits by paying living expenses from a month’s budget with benefits from Social Security, Supplemental Security, or social security disability income. Services include 3 steps:
- Determining Need: if you have a disability, an illness and (or) an addiction that’s making it difficult to manage your money, you may qualify for services.
- Assessing Finances: The Journey Home will review and monitor finances monthly to develop a plan to meet basic needs and pay bills on time.
- Setting Financial Goals: Together, we will develop short and long-term financial goals.
- Individualized help with budgeting and money management.
- Professional Record-Keeping
- Bill –paying services and other administrative tasks
- Meet basic needs and avoid homelessness, malnutrition, and other risks associated with disability.
- Provide an alternative way for a loving family to manage a relative’s care.
- Encourage Consumer Participation in budgeting and managing bills for a greater sense of empowerment.
- Receive Management services by trained, trustworthy, knowledgeable, professional staff who safeguard information and services.
- Avoid extra fees and life threatening situations by making payments directly and timely to companies and landlords.
